NBC Olympics Internship Opportunities
Posted 2/4/2005
University of Hartford students have a unique opportunity to be involved as interns during the production of the 2006 Winter Olympic Games in Turino, Italy. Representatives from NBC Olympics will be on hand to answer students' questions at an informal presentation on Monday, Feb 7, at 8 p.m. in Mali 2 auditorium, located in Dana Hall.
Please let your students know about this exciting opportunity. Students from all majors are welcome, as there are many different kinds of jobs available for interns, both technical and non-technical.
Advisors should be aware that NBC Olympics requires that student interns register for a 3- to 6-credit internship or independent study. NBC Olympics will reimburse students for one credit. Students are required to pay for their travel, housing (subsidized by NBC Olympics), and some food expenses — the average cost to each student is anticipated to be around $2,500-3,000.
The 6- to 8-week time period they will be required to be in Italy begins in January 2006. Students will need to discuss with their advisor whether they will go on part-time status (registering for only the internship/independent study), take a leave-of-absence, or begin the semester when they return.
