Women's Golf Team Wins Shootout with CCSU and Fairfield
Junior Emily Linn took the individual title in a three-team single round shootout with Central Connecticut and Fairfield at the Wethersfield Country Club on Sunday afternoon (April 17). With a 13-stroke advantage, the Hawks finished with the lowest team total of 330, while Fairfield finished with 343 and Central Connecticut 355.
Linn finished with an 18-hole 78, seven strokes over par on the 5,821-yard course. She was the only player to finish with a score under 80. Teammate Sarah Sideranko finished second for the Hawks and in a tie for second overall as she finished with an 81, matching Fairfield’s Kristen MacDonald.
All five of the Hawks lead golfers finished within 11 strokes of each other. Rookie Aubrey Ungvarsky finished third overall for the Hawks with an 18-hole 84, tying her for fifth place overall with the Stags' Megan Feeney, who participated as an individual in the field.
Kirsten LaPointe and Marissa Kallaugher registered scores of 87 and 89, respectively, in the single-round event.
The Hawks also had a pair of individuals on the course as freshmen Claire Crouch (91) and Elizabeth Creighton (95) each played in their fifth rounds since joining the team.
