Summer Programs for Faculty at NYU

This is a reminder that applications for the NYU Faculty Resource Network Summer Seminars and Scholar-in-Residence programs are due in the Provost's Office no later than Friday, Feb. 11.

The programs offer opportunities for faculty development supported by the University of Hartford’s membership in the NYU Faculty Resource Network.

The Summer Seminar program takes place on the NYU campus and consists of a weeklong seminar with advanced readings, seminar discussions, lectures, and guest speakers. Participating faculty are provided with campus housing and two meals a day.

The following Summer Seminars will run from Monday, June 6, through Friday, June 10, 2005:

After Women’s Studies? New Paradigms in Gender Studies
Bio 2010: Integrative Approaches to Teaching Science
Culture through Translation
Global Mythologies
Introduction to American Indian Literatures of the United States
Modern Jazz and the Political Imagination
Selected Topics in Heath and Mental Health: Women, Race, and Social Class
Technology in Teacher Education
Transcending Argument: Setting a Course (for Writing)
Understanding Human Rights

The Summer Scholar-in-Residence program offers network faculty an opportunity to go to New York University to engage in research, revise and develop curricula, and produce manuscripts for publication. As with the Summer Seminar program, visiting scholars are provided with campus housing and two meals a day. The dates for the Scholar-in-Residence program are June 1–24, 2005.

Complete descriptions of the individual seminars and the Scholar-in-Residence program, as well as downloadable applications, are currently available online at the Faculty Resource Network website at www.nyu.edu/frn. Applications must be signed by the University of Hartford institutional representative and be accompanied by a letter of support.
