Lacrosse Coach Lawrence on WTIC Radio Tonight, President Harrison in Chronicle of Higher Ed on May 13, and More
Lacrosse head coach Peter Lawrence will be interviewed live by Joe D’Ambrosio of WTIC Radio’s “SportsTalk” show (1080 AM) tonight (Monday, May 9) at 6:15 p.m. Lawrence will talk about the Hawks lacrosse team winning its first-ever America East championship and its first trip to the NCAA Tournament, where they will face-off against second-seeded Cornell on Saturday, May 14. Lawrence also did a live phone interview on Sunday, May 8, with the hosts of the Tournament selection show on ESPNU.
University President Walter Harrison was interviewed by a reporter with the Chronicle of Higher Education for his reaction to a soon-to-be released PEW survey of college presidents. Much of their discussion was on the cost of higher education. The article is scheduled to appear in the May 13 issue of the Chronicle.
NBC Connecticut’s “Making the Grade” segment featured Hartford Art School Assistant Professor Cat Balco and the students in her “Arts in Healthcare” program. Also interviewed were some of the students who are working on art projects with residents of Wintonbury Care Center in Bloomfield. Richard Freund, director of the University’s Greenberg Center for Judaic Studies, was interviewed for the nationally syndicated “Rudy Maxa Show” that was broadcast on Saturday, May 7. (It was streamed live at www.rudymaxa.com and was broadcast on XM satellite radio Channel 156, in addition to the 100 affiliate stations that carry the show.) It was also broadcast on Sunday, May 8, on Los Angeles affiliate KFWB Radio 980 AM (with a live stream at www.kfwb.com). Freund was interviewed about how he and a team of scientists uncovered evidence of what may be the Lost City of Atlantis. Podcasts of the shows are expected to be posted within the next few days.
Michael Anderson, associate professor of computer science in the University’s College of Arts and Sciences, and his wife, Susan, a professor emerita of philosophy at the University of Connecticut, were recently interviewed by German National Radio about their unique research into robot ethics.
