Saluting Local Heroes

The Department of Athletics is sponsoring “Local Hero Nights” at two upcoming basketball games, with free admission for firefighters, police officers, emergency medical technicians, teachers, and military personnel. Their friends and family members will be able to purchase discounted tickets for $3.
The “Local Hero Nights” will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 11, at 7 p.m., when the Hartford women take on Boston University; and on Thursday, Jan. 19, at 7 p.m., when the men face off against Binghamton.
Other upcoming basketball promotions include “Take a Kid to a Game Days,” with free admission for children with the purchase of an adult ticket, post-game autograph sessions, and special giveaways for the first 100 kids.
“Take a Kid to a Game Days” will take place on Saturday, Jan. 21, at 2 p.m., at the women’s game against Stony Brook; Saturday, Feb. 4, at 2 p.m., when the women play Vermont; and Sat., Feb. 11, at 2 p.m., as the men take on New Hampshire.
All games will be played in the Chase Arena in the Reich Family Pavilion, Sports Center. For more information, call the Athletics Box Office at 860.768.HAWK.
