Hartford sophomore Danielle Hood (# 24) has won back-to-back America East Player of the Week honors -- just one of many impressive achievements that the women's basketball team is enjoying this season.
The Hartford women’s basketball team has scored a number of successes during the first two months of the season, including Head Coach Jennifer Rizzotti’s 100th career victory.

Rizzotti achieved the milestone on Dec. 29 when the Hawks defeated Seton Hall of the Big East Conference, 65-54, in South Orange, N.J. A brief ceremony recognizing Rizzotti’s achievement will be held prior to Saturday’s 2 p.m. game against the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.

The Hawks, who are the 2005 America East champions, have had a number of other impressive achievements this season as well. Freshman Erica Beverly has been named America East Rookie of the Week five times, while sophomore Danielle Hood has captured back-to-back conference Player of the Week honors. Hood had the fifth most productive outing in school history this past Saturday, scoring 30 points in Hartford’s 70-50 victory at Albany.

The Hawks carry a 10-2 record into tonight’s (Jan. 11) home game against Boston University (7 p.m., Chase Arena). Various indexes, which measure a team’s record and strength of schedule, currently rank Hartford between 36 and 69 among the 332 schools playing Division I women’s basketball.
