Men's Soccer Schedule Announced

In a quest for its first America East conference title since 1999, the University of Hartford men’s soccer team has released its 2011 schedule. The slate is highlighted by eight contests played on Al-Marzook Field and a pair of opponents who were 2010 NCAA College Cup participants.

The Hawks open the season with a challenging non-conference schedule. Hartford hosts Fordham on Saturday, August 27,  and Siena on Thursday, September 1, both at 7 p.m.

Hartford then hits the road for a September 6 matchup with Central Connecticut. The Hawks continue to Wilmington, N.C. for a pair of first-time meetings on the campus of the University of North Carolina-Wilmington. Hartford will first take on the tournament host Seahawks on Friday, September 9, before squaring-off with Campbell two days later.

Hartford welcomes perennial power Penn State to Al-Marzook Field for a matinee meeting at on Sunday, September 18. The Nittany Lions finished 2010 ranked 18th in the NSCAA/HendrickCars.com Top-25 Poll.

The Hawks kick off America East play at home against Boston University on Saturday, October 1.

The top six teams in the conference standings will qualify for the 2011 America East Tournament, which begins with the quarterfinal round on Saturday, November 5. The top two teams in the league rankings receive a bye in the tournament's first round.

Hartford concluded the 2010 season with a 5-10 overall record including a mark of 2-5 in the America East. The 2011 campaign will be head coach Tom Poitras’ first at the helm of the Hawks following eight successful years with the Green Bay Phoenix.
