Baseball Camps and Clinics

University of Hartford Baseball Coach Jeff Calcaterra and his staff have announced a month full of camps and clinics in February, which are open to the public.
The jam-packed schedule of baseball activities will begin with the West Hartford Youth Baseball League Parent/Child Clinic on Saturday, Feb. 4. The clinics, which are open to children ages 7-12 and their parents, will take place at the Conard High School gym in West Hartford and will feature three different sessions based on age. All clinics will be two hours in length. Clinics are scheduled for 1-3 p.m. for children ages 7 and 8; 3:30-5:30 p.m. for ages 9 and 10; and 6-8 p.m. for ages 11 and 12. The clinic cost is $25 per session, which includes a child and his or her parent.
The Calcaterra Baseball Academy will hold a Spring Training Academy on Feb. 6, 13, and 20. The Spring Training Academy is open to children ages 7-13. Participants can attend all three sessions for $80, or they may attend single sessions for $30 each. Each session will be held from 7:30-9:30 p.m. and will take place at the Reich Family Pavilion in the University of Hartford Sports Center.
The Calcaterra Baseball Academy also will host a Winter Showcase, scheduled for Sunday, Feb. 19, at the Chase Arena in the Reich Family Pavilion, Sports Center. This camp is open to all high school age athletes, and will also have many athletes from local and regional Division I, II, III and junior colleges in attendance. The Winter Showcase is a six-hour program that begins at 10 a.m. and costs $100 per participant. The deadline to sign up for the Winter Showcase is Feb. 10.
The final February event for Calcaterra and his staff is the Rocky Hill Little League Winter Vacation Camp, which will be held Feb. 21-24 at the Tennis and Fitness Center of Rocky Hill. The event will feature a maximum of 60 players for any one session. Sessions for players between the ages of 5-8 will be held on Feb. 21 and 22. Players between the ages of 9-12 can attend on Feb. 23 and 24. All of the sessions will begin at 1 p.m. The cost for the Rocky Hill event is $60 per athlete.
