Six members of the University of Hartford men’s golf team have been named to the 2011 America Sky Men’s Golf All-Academic Team as announced by the league this month. Overall, the America Sky Conference honored 31 student-athletes for their success in the classroom.

Of the Hawks' six honorees, one was a senior, D.J. Lantz, while the remaining five were freshmen: Robert GibbonsMichael KellySean KoAlex Osborne and Patrick Ross. Lantz sported the lowest stroke average among the six academic honorees. One of three golfers to compete in all 12 tournaments and all 31 rounds, Lantz averaged 77.84, while firing a season-low round of 70 at the 2011 America Sky Championship.

Among the five freshmen, Ross sported the lowest season average, finishing just behind Lantz with a 77.94 average, while also playing in all 31 rounds as a rookie. Ross's season-low single round of 69 in the second round of the New England Division I Championships was the lowest single round by any Hawk this past season.

The America Sky Men’s Golf Conference consists of 12 members: Binghamton, Chicago State, Hartford, Houston Baptist, Northern Dakota, Northern Colorado, Sacramento State, Seattle University, South Dakota, Texas–Pan American, Utah Valley and Weber State. The 12-member conference will earn its first automatic bid to the NCAA Championship this season, with the winner of the league championship earning that right.
