Louis makes his debut as a Division I collegiate head coach after spending seven seasons as the assistant men’s tennis coach at the University of Connecticut.
“I am grateful and extremely excited to be joining the University of Hartford family,” declared Louis. “I would like to thank Patricia Meiser and Laurie Weinstein for this opportunity to lead the Hartford tennis programs. I look forward to the continued growth and success of both men’s and women’s tennis.”
A four-year letterwinner with the Huskies from 2000-04, Louis compiled an overall record of 35-32 in singles competition, while serving as a team captain during his final season at Connecticut. During his playing career, Louis excelled both on the court and in the classroom as he was named to the Big East Conference All-Academic Team for three-straight seasons (2002-04). After remaining with the team during the 2005 season as a student-coach, the New York, N.Y,. native became an assistant coach with the program the following year.
Prior to his arrival at Connecticut, Louis attended the Humanities High School and was named the New York Public School Athletic League Player of the Year as a senior. He was also the recipient of the Iron Horse Award for tennis in 2000.
“I would also like to thank Glenn Marshall and the University of Connecticut for all of their support, guidance and friendship over the years,” Louis concluded.
Louis adds more than 10 years of teaching experience with a range of ability levels to his coaching resume. With ties to both Connecticut and New York City, he has worked the adidas Tennis Camps at Connecticut where he has served as the assistant director for two years and the co-director for three.
Most recently, Louis was hired as the varsity tennis coach at the Ethel Walker School in Simsbury, Conn. In addition, Louis assumes the positions of assistant head tennis professional at the Madison Beach Club and is also the tennis professional at Manchester Racquet Club.
Louis graduated from Connecticut with a bachelor’s degree in exercise physiology in 2005. He went on to earn his Master’s degree in sport management and sociology in 2007.
