Volleyball Freshman Earns Conference Award
Freshman Sareeta Nethersole became the third women’s volleyball player this year to earn an America East weekly honor when she was named the Rookie of the as announced by the league on Monday. Nethersole finished the week with two double doubles compiling big numbers in kills and digs.
The freshman utility hitter averaged 2.31 kills, 3.62 digs and 1.19 assists on the week, as the Hawks finished 3-1 over four matches, including three at the Lehigh/Lafayette Cross Town Tournament. She also added 10 blocks, three aces and a .217 hitting percentage.
In the Hawks' five-set midweek victory over Bryant, Nethersole earned her first double-double of the week with 16 kills and 17 digs. She notched her second double-double in as many matches with a 17-kill, 22-dig performance in a five-set loss to Princeton.
For the season, Nethersole paces the Hawks and ranks seventh in America East with 3.08 digs-per-set. She is also among the team leaders in kills with 127 and blocks with 30 total.
Hartford next plays on Saturday, September 24, hosting New Hampshire at 4 p.m.
