Tamburri Earns Second Weekly Volleyball Award
Freshman Jackie Tamburri put up impressive numbers in the conference opener against New Hampshire, leading to her second weekly honor this season. Tamburri was named the Setter of the Week as announced by the America East on Monday afternoon.
Tamburri, a rookie, tied her career high of 63 assists, a league season high, in the Hawks only match of the week. She also compiled 18 digs for her team-leading 11th double double of the season. Tamburri also added five kills and four blocks while directing Hartford to a .239 team hitting percentage.
Tamburri helped senior Michelle Cordell to a career-high hitting match when she finished with 14 kills and just one error in 24 total attempts for a .500 hitting average. Junior Kami Nethersole also hit well with a .354 effort with 21 kills and four errors in 48 total attacks.
The Croton-on-Hudson native is averaging double-digit assists this season with 10.15 per set, good for second in America East, and ranks ninth in the conference with 2.85 digs per set. Tamburri's previous conference honor came following the opening weekend when she also score Setter of the Week accolades after leading the Hawks to a 2-1 record at the Army Invitational.
