The women's soccer team's historic season continued Thursday night (Oct. 6) as the Hawks notched yet another shutout, beating the Stony Brook Seawolves 3-0 at Al-Marzook Field at Alumni Stadium.

The undefeated Hawks improve to an impressive 11-0-2 on the year and a perfect 4-0 in America East action. That is the best record in program history, surpassing an 8-0 start for the 1995 Hawks, who went on to win a conference title and NCAA Tournament appearance. Thursday's win marked the Hawks' 10th shutout this season.

Earlier this week, the University of Hartford women’s soccer team moved up to fifth place in the Northeast Region rankings put out by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America. The Hawks are the only undefeated team among the top 10 in the Northeast Region.

In Thursday's match against Stony Brook, junior striker Caitlin Alves had a touch on all three of the Hawks' goals, completing her first collegiate multi-goal game.  Alves was named the Hawks America East Player of the Game. Fifth-year Hawk Mary Beth Hamilton provided her third game-winning goal of the year in the 23rd minute. Hawks keeper Erin Quinlan collected her 10th shutout of the season with six total saves, a pair in the first half and four in the second half.

The Hawks will return to action on Thursday, Oct. 13, at 6 p.m. at Al-Marzook Field, when they host Maine in what is the second-to-last home game in the regular season.
