Cohen in Hartford Business Journal, Sekou on “Stan Simpson Show,” Ayyangar on NBC Connecticut, and More
Jeffrey Cohen, associate professor of economics in the Barney School of Business, was interviewed for a Monday, Nov. 7, Hartford Business Journal story about the impact that thriving small entertainment/retail businesses can have on the local real values and two recent studies that show the Greater Hartford area doing relatively well in this trend. The University was featured in a number of stories in the media about the impact of the unprecedented snowstorm and resulting power outage. Robert B. Hickey of Burlington, chairman of the Construction Institute at the University of Hartford and retired chairman of van Zelm Engineers, wrote about the state’s need for “a transformational change in electric utility infrastructure design” in an opinion article that was published in the Thursday, Nov. 8, edition of the Hartford Courant. The storm also played a contributory role in the tragic death of longtime Hillyer College adjunct faculty member Ida Schaechter. News on the fire at her home that claimed her life was carried on Wednesday, Nov. 2, in the Hartford Courant, on West Hartford Patch.com, and on NBC Connecticut. Bilal Sekou, an associate professor of political science in Hillyer College, was a guest on the Stan Simpson Show on Fox CT on Sunday, Oct. 30. Srikrishna Ayyangar, an assistant professor of political science in the College of Arts and Sciences and a native of Libya, was interviewed by numerous media outlets following the death of former Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi. Click here to watch his in-studio appearance on NBC Connecticut on Thursday, Oct. 20. Ayyangar was also interviewed that day by Fox CT and WTIC-AM for their news broadcasts. He was also a guest on the Dan Luvallo Show on WDRC-AM on Friday, Oct. 21.
