Jacob Harney, associate professor of biology, College of Arts and Sciences, recently participated in a European conference on "Patients and Stem Cells" that was held in Brussels, Belgium. The conference focused on adult and embryonic stem cells and their potential as cellular therapies for diseases like diabetes, Parkinson’s, cystic fibrosis, Alzheimer’s and other neurological diseases.
Harney also was invited by members of the European Parliament to speak at the World Congress for the Freedom of Scientific Research to be held in Rome, Italy, from Feb. 16 to 18.
