Mark Cistulli, assistant professor in the School of Communication, A&S, presented a paper titled "A Global Force for Branding: A Study of Attitudes, Intentions, the Military, and the Wars Overseas" at the annual National Communication Association conference in New Orleans, La.

Randy Jacobs, associate professor in the School of Communication, is a co-author and attended the presentation. Jason Snyder of Central Connecticut State University is another co-author on the paper.

The study examined people's attitudes and intentions regarding the military during the United States’ active engagement in Afghanistan and Iraq. Structural Equation Modeling revealed partially mediated relationships between attitude toward the ad, attitude toward the military (where the military has “brand” characteristics) and the discussion of one’s own intention to enlist in the Armed Forces as well as one’s intention to recommend enlisting to friends and family.
