The ubiquitous Howie the Hawk has been spotted all over campus this week, promoting the remaining home basketball games for the season. The University’s popular mascot spent time in the President’s Office and traveled around campus updating students, faculty, and staff on the upcoming games.

The men’s basketball team, which has an overall record of 9-13 (5-6 in the America East Conference), has three home games remaining. The men will take on New Hampshire tomorrow (Saturday, Feb. 11), at 2 p.m.; the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) on Wednesday, Feb. 15, at 7 p.m.; and Boston University on Sunday, Feb. 26, at 2 p.m.

The women’s team, which scored its 12th consecutive win Thursday night with a 70-53 victory over Albany, has an overall record of 18-2 (10-0 in America East Conference play). The women have two home games remaining this season. They will face Binghamton on Saturday, Feb 18, at 2 p.m.; and Maine on Saturday, Feb. 25, at 4 p.m. The women are also hosting the 2006 Friendship Cottage Cheese America East Women’s Basketball Championship from March 9-12, where they will be looking for a second consecutive trip to the NCAA tournament.

In other basketball news, University of Hartford senior forward Kenny Adeleke and women's basketball Head Coach Jennifer Rizzotti will be featured on an upcoming installment of "America East On Campus," a half-hour television show on New England Sports Network (NESN).

The show, which debuts Sunday, Feb. 12, at 4:30 p.m., will focus on America East men's and women's basketball as the 2006 America East championships approach. Adeleke's sudden impact on the men's program will be highlighted, as will a one-on-one interview with Rizzotti.

NESN will re-broadcast the episode on Feb. 15 (3 p.m), Feb. 26 (7:30 p.m.), and Feb. 27 (3 p.m.).

All of the upcoming home games will be played in the Chase Arena, Reich Family Pavilion (Sports Center). University of Hartford faculty and staff can get tickets to the games for as little as $4 each. All regular season home games are free for University of Hartford students.
