Hartford Hawks head women’s basketball coach Jennifer Rizzotti has been named the 2011 coach of the year by USA Basketball, according to a blog post by Mike Anthony of the Hartford Courant on Friday, Jan. 6. The award is in recognition of an impressive, gold-medal performance by her team at the 2011 FIBA U19 World Championship for Women, as well as leading the USA team to a gold medal at the 2010 FIBA Americas U18 Championship. Mitchell Weiss, an adjunct faculty member in the Barney School of Business and co-founder of the Center for Personal Financial Responsibility at the University, was quoted in a story about the increasing amount of student loan debt being taken on by nontraditional aged students that was distributed by the Reuters wire service.
