University of Hartford students who are interested in spending a semester at American University in Washington, D.C., are invited to speak with Veronica Diconti, associate dean of the Washington Semester Program at American University, on Tuesday, Feb. 14, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in Gengras Student Union.

Through the Washington Semester Program, students spend three days a week in seminars with faculty and guest speakers, and two days a week working as interns throughout the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. Students can take an American University elective, or complete the Research Project, a course that requires guided independent research on a timely topic.

Students can earn up to 17 credits for each semester in programs such as foreign policy, American politics, transforming communities, international business and trade, justice, and public law. Some programs have an overseas component, such as the International Environment and Development section, in which students travel to Brazil in the fall or to South Africa in the spring.
