Douglas Dix, professor of biology and medical technology in the College of Education, Nursing and Health Professions and secretary/treasurer of MOMS: The Fund for Mothers with Young Children, wrote an opinion article that suggested that people should get a license to be parents, just as adoptive and foster parents have to be licensed. The article, which can be read by clicking here, was published in the Hartford Courant on Tuesday, Jan. 10.

Teresa Stores, associate professor of English in the College of Arts and Sciences, was highlighted in a story in The Journal of Bloomfield on Friday, Dec. 16, in conjunction with a project she helped launch at the Duncaster Retirement Community. “The Freshman Project,” which connects 14 first-year University students with six first-year residents at Duncaster, will also be the subject of a story in an upcoming issue of Selling to Seniors Magazine.
