HAS Students Intern at Miami Beach Museum and Art Fair
From Nov. 29-Dec. 4, 2011, Hartford Art School students Akino Fukawa, Stass Shpanin, Maggie Vaughn and Eleni Zouradaki served as interns at the Bass Museum and the Art Basel Miami Beach art fair in Miami Beach, Fla.
The students served as docents for the museum, and as tour guides for the Art Basel Miami Beach public event, an open air tour of contemporary sculpture. While in Miami, the four painting majors did a case study of the 14 simultaneous art fairs that occur annually over the course of five days in early December. They interviewed collectors, curators, gallery directors and artists.
The students were also able to take in museum quality art from around the world. The trip was organized and coordinated by Associate Professor of Painting Carol Padberg.
