Liu Earns America East Women's Tennis Player of the Week Honors

University of Hartford graduate student Abby Liu earned her first America East Conference Women’s Tennis Player of the Week honor as announced by the conference office.

Liu, a transfer from the University of Texas, picked up her third straight singles victory of the Spring last Saturday at Bryant. Liu, playing in the No. 1 position for the Hawk women, took down the Bulldogs’ top player, Claudia Hidalgo, 7-5, 6-3, to pick up the Hawks’ only point in a 6-1 loss. Liu improved her Spring singles record to 3-1, all at No. 1 singles.

In just over one semester as a Hawk, Liu has amassed a 14-3 singles record, including 5-2 in dual-match play. The Houston, Texas, native also earned top-flight singles titles at the New England Invitational and the Quinnipiac Invitational.
