The University of Hartford track and field teams wrapped up their indoor schedule as eight student-athletes ran at the Columbia Last Chance Qualifier Meet at The Armory in New York City the weekend of March 3-4.

Senior Andrew Chalmers broke a school record for the fourth straight week as he ran the mile in a time of 4:14.99. Chalmers held the previous school mark in the mile, posting a time of 4:15.27 on February 11 at the Boston University Valentine Invitational. Chalmers also holds the Hartford records in the 3,000 meters and 5,000 meters, both of which have been set in the last month.

A pair of women also posted personal best performances. Junior Stephanie Hanson finished the 60-meter hurdles in a time of 9.43 seconds, .01 second faster than her previous personal best and just .04 seconds of the current school-record pace of 9.39 seconds, set by Stephanie Hanson, currently a senior for the Hawks, in 2010.

In the 400-meter dash, freshman Tiffany Harrison posted her career-best time, covering the distance in 57.85 seconds. Her mark is just more than half of a second off Priscilla Appiagyei’s current school mark of 57.31 seconds.

The Hawks track and field teams open their outdoor schedule March 31 at the UConn Spring Invitational in Storrs, Conn.
