Yvette Blanchard, associate professor of physical therapy, ENHP, presented her work on the Newborn Behavioral Observation system at the Combined Section Meetings of the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) in San Diego, Calif. She was the guest speaker at the first meeting of the Special Interest Group in Neonatology.
The Special Interest Group in Neonatology was formed to unite physical therapists across the United States with a special interest in research or clinical practice in the field of neonatology, which focuses on the care of newborns and infants up to four months old. In collaboration with Dr. Jane K. Sweeney of Rocky Mountain University in Provo, Utah, Blanchard will work on a task force to establish the neonatal intensive care unit practice guidelines for the APTA Section on Pediatrics.
