Women's Track and Field Places Third
Senior Nicolle Adams and freshman Tiffany Harrison each notched first-place finishes to lead the University of Hartford women’s track and field team to 101.50 total points and a third-place finish at last weekend's AIC International.
The Hawks finished in third place overall, behind only Massachusetts with 175.50 points and Williams with 162 points.
Adams picked up the individual title in the long jump with a winning leap of 5.47 meters. Her mark also set a personal best. The senior also picked up points in the 100-meter hurdles, taking third place with a time of 15.84 seconds, and in the javelin throw, notching an eighth-place finish.
In the 400-meter dash, the Hawk women finished one-two with Harrison claiming the victory. The freshman rounded the track in a time of 56.98 seconds, a personal-best time. Junior Priscilla Appiagyei finished just behind Harrison, stopping the clock at 58.64 seconds to take second place.
The Hawks also picked up a pair of wins in the relays, posting a first-place times of 48.83 seconds in the 4x100-meter relay and 3:56.20 in the 4x400-meter relay.
