Learning Plus Final Exam Accommodations
A student who has a disability and is eligible to access test/exam accommodations has a Letter of Disclosure that identifies the appropriate accommodations. Within the first three weeks of the semester (but no later than week 10 of the semester), the student must submit a Letter of Disclosure to the professor in order to take a final exam with accommodations at Learning Plus.
Please note: A student who has been issued a Letter of Disclosure from the Division of Student Affairs is required to follow the same procedure to access test/final exam accommodations. All final exams that require disability-related test accommodations will be administered by Learning Plus, Auerbach 209, 860.768.4312.
E. Lynne Golden, the director of Learning Plus, determines test/final exam accommodations for eligible students who have been diagnosed with learning disabilities, attention deficit disorder, acquired brain injury, or a disability on the autism spectrum, i.e. Asperger’s Syndrome. Suzanne Anderson-McNeil, the assistant vice president of Student Affairs, determines test/final exam accommodations for students who have been diagnosed with chronic medical conditions, physical disabilities, psychological disabilities, or visual or hearing disabilities. Anderson-McNeil can be contacted in GSU 307 and at 860.768.4260.
Learning Plus administers final exams to accommodate a student's disability. We do NOT administer final exams to accommodate travel plans, personal preference, sports events/practices or work schedules.
Procedure for Taking Final Exams with Accommodations at Learning Plus
The student must:
• have submitted a Letter of Disclosure to the professor earlier in the semester (no later than week 10 of the semester).
• reserve a test space at L+ a minimum of five business days prior to the final exam date. Please note: The last day to make a reservation at L+ for a final exam is May 7, 2012.
• submit a Green Sheet to the professor a minimum of five business days prior to the final exam. Approved exam accommodations are noted on the Letter of Disclosure.
The professor must:
• drop-off the final exam at L+ (A209) 24 hours prior to the time/day that the student is scheduled to take the exam. Please note: L+ exam hours do not mirror standard exam hours. This may impact your delivery or pick-up of the exam.
• attach the completed Green Sheet to the final exam.
• provide all supplementary materials with the exam such as response sheets, blue books, graphs, charts, articles, CD, and others.
• pick-up the student’s completed exam by 6 p.m. the day following the final exam. Please note: Learning Plus will close at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday, May 15. Any final exams remaining at Learning Plus after 6:15 p.m. will be delivered to Public Safety. It then becomes the professor’s responsibility to retrieve the student’s final exam from Public Safety.
Learning Plus Schedule During Final Exams
Learning Plus office hours from Wednesday, May 9, through Tuesday, May 15, are below; Saturday, May 12, hours are TBD. Please note: Learning Plus does NOT administer final exams between 1 and 2 p.m.
Learning Plus hours of final exam proctoring do NOT mirror the University’s standard exam hours. In order to meet the intent of the disability-related accommodations, Learning Plus administers exams during two time periods per day, with the possible exception of Saturday.
ALL morning exams start at 9 a.m.
• Students must arrive at Learning Plus, A209, no later than 9:10 a.m. to be admitted to the Learning Plus test site.
• Students who are eligible for 50 percent additional time are dismissed at 12 noon.
• Students who are eligible for 100 percent additional time are dismissed at 1 p.m.
• If the student finishes the final exam before the class begins the final exam, the student is required to stay at Learning Plus until after the standard time for the exam begins. NO EXCEPTIONS UNLESS the professor permits early dismissal. In that case, the professor must write directly on the Green Sheet that the student may leave upon completion of the final exam.
ALL afternoon and early evening exams start at 2 p.m.

• Students who are eligible for 50 percent additional time are dismissed at 5 p.m.
• Students who are eligible for 100 percent additional time are dismissed at 6 p.m.
• If the student finishes the final exam before the class begins the final exam, the student is required to stay at Learning Plus until after the standard time for the exam begins. NO EXCEPTIONS UNLESS the professor permits early dismissal. In that case, the professor must write directly on the Green Sheet that the student may leave upon completion of the Final Exam.
Evening Exams: Learning Plus closes at 6:15 p.m. during Finals Week.
Evening exams will be administered at L+ between 9 a.m. and 1 p.m. or between 2 and 6 p.m. on the day of the standard exam. If there are scheduling conflicts, the L+ student may need to take the final exam on the day before or the day after the standard final exam. Professors and students are responsible for negotiating a day/time for the exam and notifying Learning Plus in writing of their decision.
