Earth Day Events Planned for Next Week
The University and Aramark will raise awareness of environmental issues with several events next week in observance of Earth Day, which is Sunday (April 22).
On Tuesday, April 24, there will be a number of environmentally themed tables and displays during open hour in Suisman Lounge, GSU. These will include a water taste test, a video on bottled water, information on the new Environmental Studies minor and the Energy Engineering and Sustainable Design concentration, and images of conservation and sustainability initiatives from all around the campus.
In addition, Aramark will be conducting a number of activities next week to raise environmental awareness.
Aramark will dim the lights in the Commons, Gengras Cafe, and the 1877 Club every day next week from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. In the Commons and in Gengras Cafe, there will be a "What's Important to Me" display, where students can sign their name under the environmental topic that is most important to them. There will also be informational signs and displays in the Commons and Gengras Cafe.
In the 1877 Club, customers will receive seeds for herbs and vegetables on Tuesday (April 24), and Earth Day cupcakes will be served on Friday (April 27).
