The Center for Reading and Writing (CRW) is offering a variety of academic support services this semester to University of Hartford students.
The spring schedule of tutoring hours provides extended hours every day except Friday. For nontraditional students who work during the week, CRW is pleased to be able to offer Saturday hours again this semester. The Saturday hours are made possible through a grant provided by United Technologies Corporation (UTC).
The spring semester hours are:
The credit-bearing mini-course series provides skills and strategies instruction in conjunction with students’ current spring courses. CRW 102, "Reading and Remembering," begins on Thursday, Feb. 17. Interested students should refer to page 35 of the Spring 2005 Course Bulletin, or call the CRW at 860.768.4312 for information.
Finally, UTC funds also support occasional workshops. The first of the spring semester is "Library Research Skills" with Kitty Tynan, head of Reference Services, University Libraries, on Friday, Feb. 25. One week later, on Friday, March 4, Andrew Craft, associate professor of chemistry, will facilitate "Computer Survival Skills." Both Friday evening sessions are from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at a location to be announced. Interested students should call the Center at 860.768.4312 to sign up.
Later in the semester, other workshop topics will include "Writing an Effective Research Paper," "APA Documentation," and "Preparation for Finals."
