Goldstein in Huffington Post, Harrison on Fox News.com, Freund in Hadassah Magazine, and More

Warren Goldstein, chair of the history department in the College of Arts and Sciences, wrote an opinion article about President Obama’s recent statement about marriage equality on the Huffington Post web site on Thursday, May 10. Click here to read his column.

University President Walter Harrison was featured in a number of media outlets when it was announced that he was the point man for the NCAA in talks between Major League Baseball (MLB), its players’ union and the governing body of collegiate sports to create partnership that could result in more scholarship funds for the sport in return for greater influence over Division 1 baseball. Among the publications mentioning President Harrison were Fox News, CBS News, Sports Illustrated, and an Associated Press report.

Richard Freund, professor of history and director of the University’s Greenberg Center for Judaic Studies, was highlighted in an article in the April 2012 issue of Hadassah Magazine. The magazine’s interview with documentary filmmaker and journalist Simcha Jacobovici led to Jacobovici talking about his involvement with Freund’s archaeological work that helped led to the possible discovery of the Lost City of Atlantis. Violinist Sirena Huang, who began studying at The Hartt School Community Division when she was only four years old, was a guest performer on the Fox CT Morning Show on Tuesday, May 8. Huang was on the show to promote a benefit concert on May 10 that The Hartt School Community Division was holding to support its Fund for Access program. The Fund for Access program helps to provide high caliber performing arts instruction to Hartford area students who might otherwise not be able to afford it. The Hartford Courant has featured the University of Hartford in a few recent photos. On Tuesday, May 8, there was a photograph in the “CT Now” section that showed mulch being applied to the flower beds around campus in preparation for Commencement weekend on May 19 and 20. Also, the “JAVA” column of May 4 featured a photograph of members of the Hartford Art School’s Board of Trustees taking part in the School’s annual “Down and Dirty” event, which was held on April 30.
