Professor John Feierabend, director of The Hartt School's Music Education Division, recently returned from creating two new children's concerts for the "Musical Awakenings" concert series for the Van Cliburn Foundation in Fort Worth, Texas.

Now in its 12th year, "Musical Awakenings" serves approximately 34,000 students in 125 public elementary schools in Texas. Programs consist of live performances, interactive lesson plans, and follow-up activities. Materials are integrated into the state-mandated curriculum and address TEKS objectives. These two new programs bring the total to 24 programs that have been created since the "Musical Awakenings" series began.

In addition, Feierabend finished his spring lecture tour by giving four presentations and serving as keynote speaker at the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association annual conference in Lancaster, Pa. Other state conferences at which Feierabend gave multiple presentations include Oklahoma Music Educators, Georgia Music Educators (where he also was the keynote speaker), Kansas Music Educators, and Delaware Music Educators.
