Russell Publishes Article in JRME
Joshua Russell, assistant professor in The Hartt School’s Music Education Division, published an article in the Journal of Research in Music Education (JRME) entitled “The Occupational Identity of In-Service Secondary Music Educators: Formative Interpersonal Interactions and Activities.” In this article, Russell explored the psycho-social constructs that inform music educators’ professional identities.
Russell conducted this study to build upon his previous research looking into how and why preservice music educators, as well as all music majors, develop their particular occupational identity. This research will also inform a follow-up study that will connect two of Russell’s research interests in which he will explore the impact on occupational identity on music educators’ career choices.
