Carey Featured in Union-Tribune, Goldstein Writes for Chronicle Review, and More
Ellen Carey, associate professor of photography in the Hartford Art School, was profiled in a story in the Tuesday, June 19, issue of the San Diego Union-Tribune in conjunction with the exhibition “Ellen Carey: Photography Degree Zero” at the Joseph Bellows Gallery in La Jolla, Calif. In the story, Carey is referred to as a “pioneering photographer, whose images have been widely exhibited and are in the collections of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Art Institute of Chicago and the Metropolitan Museum of Art, among other institutions.” Click here to read the story.
Warren Goldstein, professor and chair of the history department in the College of Arts and Sciences, had an article published in the “Chronicle Review” section of the Friday, June 22 edition of The Chronicle of Higher Education. The essay, which is a musing on the quality of work being done by today’s college students and the impact that professors have on that, can be read by clicking here.
Mitchell Weiss, an adjunct faculty member in the Barney School of Business and co-founder of the Center for Personal Financial Responsibility at the University, had an opinion article published on Credit.com on Tuesday, June 12, and then reprinted in the Huffington Post’s “Money” section on Friday, June 15. His article argues that a major overhaul is need in the student loan system.
University President Walter Harrison was quoted in numerous media stories following the release of Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores, which indicated that some teams (such as the University of Connecticut men’s basketball team and the Central Connecticut State University men’s soccer team) won’t be eligible for post season play in 2013. Among the June 20 and June 21 publications on that President Harrison was quoted in were: Insider Higher Ed.com; the New York Times; the Associated Press; USA Today; FOX News; ESPN.com; WCBS in New York; the Indianapolis Star; the Times Picayune of New Orleans; and the Charlotte News & Observer, which reprinted a Hartford Courant story.
