Rizzotti in Stamford Advocate, Harrison in Hartford Courant, and More

Hartford Hawks women’s basketball coach Jen Rizzotti was named to the Class of 2013 inductees into the Women’s Basketball Hall of Fame for her accomplishments as a player on Tuesday, July 17. The news was covered by a number of local media outlets, including the Hartford Courant, the Stamford Advocate, and the NBC Connecticut Dog-House blog. The announcement, which was noted on the evening newscasts on WTNH Channel 8 and Fox CT, noted that the formal induction ceremony will take place in Knoxville on June 8, 2013.

The “Walk for Weaver” fundraising event being put on by the Hartford Hawks women's basketball team, to support former teammate Amanda Weaver in her battle with cancer, was noted in the Hartford Courant “Sports” section’s “Regional Digest” on Thursday, July 19. Click here to read it.

University President Harrison, who is chair of the NCAA’s Committee on Academic Progress, was featured in a column by the Hartford Courant’s Jeff Jacobs on Wednesday, July 18. The column, which can be read by clicking here, offered President Harrison the opportunity to explain why the committee did not grant the University of Connecticut men’s basketball team’s appeal of its ban from playing in the 2013 post-season tournament.
