Former University of Hartford men's golfer Matt Smith and rising sophomore Wally Gonzalez have been honored by the New England Division I Golf Coaches

Smith was one of ten players across the region to be named to the All-New England team while Gonzalez earned one of five spots on the All-Rookie team.

Smith's 73.77 is the fifth lowest single-season scoring average in Hartford history. His career average of 75.72 also places him fifth all-time among Hawk golfers.

Gonzalez posted an average of 76.46 in his first season as a Hawk. The freshman from San Diego, Calif., notched a pair of top-five finishes, taking third place at the Connecticut Cup and finishing fifth at the New England Championship. Gonzalez also led the Hawks at the 2012 America Sky Championship at Lake of Isles Golf Course in North Stonington, Conn., taking 12th place at the conference championship.
