Doane Receives Award From American Sociological Association
Woody Doane, professor of sociology and associate dean of Hillyer College, has been awarded the 2012 Founder’s Award for Scholarship and Service by the American Sociological Association’s Section on Racial and Ethnic Minorities.
The Section on Racial and Ethnic Minorities is one of the largest special interest sections in the American Sociological Association. The Founder’s Award, which was presented at a reception on August 19 at the Association’s Annual Meeting in Denver, was established by Charles Smith, one of the original founders of the section, to recognize career excellence in scholarship as well as service.
In its award statement, the award committee cited Doane for extraordinary scholarship, mentoring of young race scholars, and leadership within the section.
