Hartt School faculty members Janet Arms and Ben Toth performed at the National Flute Association convention held in Las Vegas in August.

Along with seven students from Arms's studio – Michelle Stockman, Thiago Sousa, Kristen McGuire, Mary Matthews, Arielle Burke, Jenny Hunt and Nick Goodwin – they all performed a beautiful concert featuring the music of Hartt School composers.

The concert included Robert Carl's Rivers Bend – a West Coast premiere of his new flute duo; Ken Steen's Meander–different streams; same river, a world premiere written especially for this concert for four flutes and percussion; Stephen Gryc's 5 Preludes; David Macbride's Shape Notes; and Larry Alan Smith's world premiere of Scat, a flute quartet also written for the Las Vegas concert. Bob Bonora, percussionist from the College of Southern Nevada, joined Toth and Arms on Shape Notes.

The concert was a great success and Hartt was well-represented at this national event!
