Accolades: Laurence Gould

Professor of Physics Laurence I. Gould has given two invited lectures in celebration of the 2005 Einstein Centennial Year. He presented his talk, titled "Albert Einstein: Myth and Magic," at Smith College in Northampton, Mass., in November, and at Trinity College in Hartford in February.

Among his many other recent activities, Gould has been invited to contribute a foreword to the book, Human Image Processing: A Holonomic Model, by Mitja Perus, to be published by Noetic Press.

Gould currently serves as chairman of the Executive Board of the International Symmetry Association (Budapest, Hungary). A past chair of the New England Section of the American Physical Society (NES APS) and current newsletter co-editor, Gould participated last fall in the NES APS Executive Board meeting at the University of Vermont. He also gave a report, as past chair of the NES APS, at the Unit Convocation held in College Park, Md., last month.

In addition, Gould was the Sigma Xi delegate (University of Hartford Chapter) to the Annual Sigma Xi Meeting in Seattle, Wash., where he also was a judge of posters in math and physics for the Student Research Conference.

Gould's biography has been requested for inclusion in the 24th edition of Who's Who in the World and in the 64th edition of Who's Who in America, both to be published in 2007.
