The Office of Human Resources Development (HRD) reminds faculty and staff that there are important deadlines coming up with regard to Flexible Spending Accounts and use of vacation time.

HRD has issued the following reminders to all employees:
  • Flexible Spending Account(s) for 2004
All faculty and staff who participated in the 2004 Flexible Spending Account(s) for health care and/or dependent care MUST submit withdrawal request forms to Hirsch Financial Services via fax, (888) 510-4218, or by mail to: Claims Department, HFS, 164 Lakefront Drive, Hunt Valley, MD 21030, no later than March 31, 2005, to be reimbursed for eligible expenses incurred during the 2004 calendar year. Per IRS guidelines, any unused funds in these accounts at the end of the 2004 calendar year will be forfeited. Withdrawal request forms can be obtained online at www.hartford.edu/hrd.

  • Vacation
Please be advised that all staff members are expected to use the full amount of their allotted vacation and/or attendance award time before the end of this fiscal year (June 30, 2005). Per University policy, carryover of unused vacation and/or attendance award time into the next fiscal year is not allowed. Any vacation and/or attendance award time not taken prior to June 30, 2005 will be forfeited.

  • Dependent Eligibility for Insurance
Please be aware that any change in eligibility status with reference to medical, dental, and/or dependent life insurance coverage is the responsibility of the employee and should be brought to the attention of HRD within 30 days of the status change to ensure immediate and proper processing. Changes in eligibility status (qualifying events) can include a change in marital status, addition of a dependent child (birth or adoption), or deletion of a dependent due to loss of eligibility status (no longer of eligible age or loss of full-time student status). For more detailed information regarding your coverage continuation rights and obligations under the federal law (COBRA), please visit our website at www.hartford.edu/hrd. Any questions regarding eligibility status should be directed to HRD at 768.4665.
