Tamburri Nets Setter of the Week Honors
Sophomore setter Jackie Tamburri led the Hawks to a pair of back-to-back league victories last week, earning America East Setter of the Week accolades.
Tamburri averaged 11.12 assists per set last week, as the Hawks recorded a three-set win over the Providence Friars and a five-set upset of the New Hampshire Wildcats. The win over UNH was the first against the Wildcats since 1996, a span that includes 32 matches.
The sophomore floor marshal opened the week averaging 10 assists over the three sets against Providence, leading the team to a .252 hitting average with just 13 errors on the night. She also added three kills, without hitting an error, and seven digs against the Friars.
In Saturday's upset of the Wildcats, Tamburri averaged 11.8 assists, compiling a season-high 59. She also completd her team leading 13th double-double with a career-high 26 digs.
For the week, Tamburri was third in the conference in assists (11.12), second in aces (0.62), and fifth in digs (4.12). For the season, she has a total of 820 assists, second most among all league setters, while her 9.71 assists-per-set average leads the America East.
Tamburri and the Hawks return to the court for a single match this week, welcoming the reigning America East champion Albany Great Danes for a Sunday afternoon matinee.
