Smoking Cessation Program
Reimbursement Incentive Offered!
Are you currently a smoker? Has your goal been to quit smoking? Are you having a tough time achieving this goal? Let the University’s Employee Assistance Program help you achieve this goal and let the University assist in providing the tools necessary to quit.
The University of Hartford has partnered with the Lexington Group to host a smoking cessation support group on campus. The motivational meetings will run for one hour, once a week, for a period of eight weeks. The group will focus on education, including different tools to help quit, individual monitors to track your progress, coping skills, trigger identifiers, relapse prevention, relaxation techniques and a plan for staying smoke free.
In addition, due to a generous grant from the Cigna Foundation, the support group will be provided at no cost to the attendee. Further, employees who choose to participate will be reimbursed up to $125 for smoking cessation tools (patch, gum, etc). Participating employees will be required to submit detailed receipts to HRD for reimbursement purposes. While spouses/same-sex partners may attend these support group sessions, only employees are eligible for the reimbursement incentive.
Before the support group begins, an informational meeting will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 6, from 11 to 11:30 a.m. in GSU 335. For the support group to begin, the University will need a minimum of 10 people to commit to attend these meetings.
