'Invisible Children' to Hold Event on Campus Wednesday
The Invisible Children organization will hold an event on Wednesday, Oct. 24, at 8 p.m., in the Regents Commons of the Shaw Center (Hillyer Hall). All are welcome to attend.
Invisible Children works to raise awareness of atrocities committed by the Lord's Resistance Army (LRA) and its leader, Joseph Kony, in east and central Africa, and to rehabilitate children who have been directly affected by the LRA.
Wednesday's event on campus is being coordinated by students Holly Sanchez and Julianna Cruz, who are Resident Assistants in E and F Complexes.
According to Sanchez and Cruz, members of the Invisible Children organization will be coming to the University from California to make an educational presentation. During the program, Invisible Children representatives will be screening a new documentary, titled Move, and they will be accompanied by Ugandan guest speakers who have powerful first-hand stories to tell. Following the presentation there will be a reception, raffles, and opportunities to purchase Invisible Children apparel.
