Hartt Students Perform in Flash Mob at Blue Back Square

Prior to the flash mob at Blue Back Square, Hartt students held a practice performance in the courtyard of the Harry Jack Gray Center.

Shoppers in West Hartford’s Blue Back Square were treated to a surprise performance by Hartt's orchestra and the Hartford Chorale on Saturday, Oct. 20.

The musicians played an excerpt of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 (“Ode to Joy”) for the first-ever Hartt flash mob.

 The performance began with just one musician, but he was gradually joined by more than a dozen other musicians who appeared from different areas of Blue Back Square. Hartford Chorale singers posed as members of the quickly growing audience until it was their time to join in.
