With the recent superstorm battering heavily populated areas of the East Coast, issues centered around insurance and finance have risen to the forefront of the national headlines. On Wednesday, Nov. 7, a symposium at the University of Hartford will explore the relationship between the two.

The inaugural symposium, "The Intersection of Risk and Finance," will offer an informative and dynamic look at the interrelationship between the fields of insurance and finance; the current trends, issues, and business solutions in those areas; and the engaging career possibilities that await today’s college graduates.

Presented by the University’s Barney School of Business, in partnership with Corporate Risk Solutions, LLC, the preeminent global independent risk management and benefits advisory firm, the symposium will take place on Wednesday, Nov. 7, from 5 to 7 p.m. in Wilde Auditorium.

The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required. To register to attend the symposium in person, submit an advance question, or watch the event online Wednesday evening, visit the symposium website.

Joseph F. Coughlin, a 1980 University of Hartford graduate and a current member of the Board of Regents, will serve as moderator. He is the founder and CEO of Corporate Risk Solutions, with more than 30 years of experience in the consulting, advisory, underwriting and brokerage segments of the insurance industry.
