The University of Hartford's United Way campaign has raised about $15,000 toward its goal of $25,000.

The needs of the Greater Hartford community continue to be significant, and faculty and staff are urged to help support the campaign in any way they can. The campaign runs until Nov. 30.

Faculty and staff can make donations electronically or with paper pledge forms. In early October, employees should have received an email from United Way with a personalized link for making an online donation, as well as a packet with paper pledge forms and campaign information.

Everyone who participates in this year's United Way campaign will be entered into a drawing for prizes, including a $25 gift card to the Bookstore and gift certificates for lunch at the 1877 Club. In addition, anyone who makes a donation of $75 or more will be entered into a drawing for a Lenovo IdeaPad laptop computer and printer donated by the Purchasing Department.

And this year, there is an added incentive. Anyone who makes a donation, regardless of amount, will be entered into a drawing for the chance to throw a pie in the face of President Harrison and other senior administrators! The following senior administrators have offered to take a pie to the face:

President Walter Harrison
Provost Sharon Vasquez
Associate Provost Chuck Colarulli
Vice President John Carson
Vice President Lee Peters
Vice President Christine Pina
General Counsel and Secretary Tom Dorer

Seven employees who donate to the United Way campaign will be randomly selected to throw a pie during the University holiday party on Dec. 13. At the party, each pie thrower will pick the name of the person that they will be "pie-ing."

So be sure to make your donation, and be part of the fun!

If you have any questions, contact the United Way campaign volunteer for your department. If you don't know the name of your campaign volunteer, please call the President's Office at ext. 4417 or ext. 4418.
