Basketball Season Opens This Weekend!

The women's basketball team will play its first game of the season Friday evening against Loyola, and the men will host the Connecticut 6 Classic at Chase Arena on Saturday.

Basketball season officially gets under way this weekend, as the Hartford women hold their regular season home opener tonight (Friday), and the men host the Connecticut 6 Classic at Chase Arena on Saturday.

The women’s basketball team will play its first game of the season on Friday, Nov. 9, against Loyola. Tip-off is at 7 p.m. at Chase Arena in the Reich Family Pavilion.

All regular season home games are free for University of Hartford students. Friday’s game will include a student-only backpack giveaway as well as a chance for one randomly selected student to win a Honda Fit car!

Faculty and staff should have received ticket vouchers (through intercampus mail) for free admission to the women’s game on Nov. 9 and the men’s regular season home opener against Sacred Heart on Nov. 16. Bring your voucher and your University of Hartford ID to receive your free ticket. Friends and family attending with faculty and staff may purchase tickets for $5 each, more than half off the regular price.


Connecticut 6 Classic

On Saturday, Nov. 10, the University of Hartford will host the fourth annual Connecticut 6 Classic, a six-team men’s basketball event that includes Central Connecticut State University, Fairfield University, University of Hartford, Quinnipiac University, Sacred Heart University, and Yale University.

There will be three games, all played at Chase Arena. Tickets include admission to all three games.

University of Hartford students with ID can attend the Connecticut 6 Classic for free, courtesy of Student Affairs and Athletics.

The game schedule is:

3 p.m. – Hartford vs. Quinnipiac

5:30 p.m. – Sacred Heart vs. Yale

8 p.m. – Central Connecticut vs. Fairfield

This is the first time that the Connecticut 6 Classic is being played on the campus of one of the participating schools. In previous years, the event has been held at Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport and at Mohegan Sun.
