WTIC Radio (1080 AM) previewed the University’s Fall Commencement ceremony during its hourly newscasts on Sunday morning, Dec. 2.

The University commemorated World AIDS Day on Thursday, Nov. 28, by hosting a display of “ribbon” chairs on the Gengras Lawn. The Hartford Courant featured a photograph of the display on the front page of the “CT Now” section of the Friday, Nov. 29 edition of the newspaper. The display was also featured on WFSB-Channel 3 Eyewitness News and mentioned by NBC Connecticut during its morning newscast on Thursday, Nov. 28.

The Hartford Courant, in its “Quick Study” education blog on Friday, Nov. 30, noted that James Fairfield –Sonn would be stepping down as dean of the University’s Barney School of Business. In the blog post, it was noted that Fairfield-Sonn would return to the Barney faculty after eight years as dean.

University President Walter Harrison wrote an article on Hartford’s former business leaders for the Hartford Business Journal’s special 20th Anniversary issue that was published on Monday, Nov. 26. In addition to his reminiscence on “The Last Bishops of Hartford,” Harrison was included in the Business Journal’shistoric news timeline for his 2007 appointment to chair the NCAA’s Committee on Academic Performance.

In that same 20th Anniversary issue of the Hartford Business Journal, Vice President for University Affairs John Carson was interviewed about the changed that have occurred in the region’s banking industry during the past 20 years.

Katie Roth, a sophomore on the Hartford Hawks women’s basketball team, was profiled by Hartford Courant columnist Lori Riley on Sunday, Dec. 2. The article highlighted Roth’s bright spirit, which is exemplified by her being her high school’s mascot during boys basketball games.

Hartford Hawks women’s basketball coach Jennifer Rizzotti was profiled in a Saturday, Nov. 24, article in the Springfield Republican.The article, which can be read here is headlined “Rizzotti excels at the three-point play of coach, wife, and mom.”

A photograph from the “Wonders of Science” program, presented by Educational Main Street on Tuesday, Nov. 13, was featured in the “CT Now” section of the Hartford Courant on Wednesday, Nov. 14.
