Student Forum with Women's Soccer Legend Pia Sundhage
Pia Sundhage, head coach of the Sweden Women’s National Soccer Team and former gold medal-winning coach of the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team, will be on campus on Tuesday, Dec. 11, to give an evening talk in Lincoln Theater.
Earlier in the day, she will hold a special Q&A forum just for students!
The forum with Sundhage, which is free and open to all students, will take place on Tuesday, Dec. 11, from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m., in the intramural gym/volleyball arena at the Sports Center.
No tickets are necessary – just come and take advantage of this opportunity to talk with a sports legend!
Lecture Tuesday Evening
On Tuesday evening at 7:30 p.m., Sundhage will give a talk in Lincoln Theater as part of the Rogow Distinguished Visiting Lecturers Program. The evening lecture is free and open to the public, but tickets are required. Tickets are available at the Lincoln Theater box office (860.768.4228).
Sundhage is one of the most respected coaches in women’s soccer and is regarded as one of the world’s all-time greatest female players.
She served as head coach of the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team from 2007-2012. Under her leadership, the U.S. team won two Olympic gold medals (2008 and 2012), went to the finals of the FIFA Women’s World Cup, and compiled a record of 33-1-2.
Sundhage won the Swedish Cup three times as a player and once as a coach, and she was named Sweden’s Sportswoman of the Year in 2008. In 2007 she served as assistant coach for the China Women’s National Soccer Team during the FIFA Women’s World Cup.
