A new edition of Monica Hardesty's book, Negotiating the Crisis, was published by Routledge as part of its Communication Series. Hardesty is a professor of sociology in the College of Arts and Sciences.

The book explores the crisis of rising health care costs and the new order of hospitals which develops when the policies and practices to manage rising expenditures are negotiated.  The book provides insight into theories of organizational change in the face of fiscal constraints.
