Audibert to Compete for Miss America Title
While most students will spend the winter break relaxing and catching up with family and friends, Emily Audibert ‘13 will be in Las Vegas competing for the title of Miss America!
The 2013 Miss America competition will take place on Saturday, Jan. 12, and will be broadcast live beginning at 9 p.m. on ABC television.
Audibert, a senior in the Barney School of Business, is the reigning Miss Connecticut, having won the title in June 2012. She will leave for Las Vegas on Jan. 2 for 10 days of activities leading up to the live finals of the 2013 Miss America competition.
You can help send Audibert to the finals of the Miss America contest by watching her video and voting for her on the Miss America website. Voters will choose one contestant as “America’s Choice,” and that contestant will win an automatic spot in the finals.
Audibert is pursuing a triple major in accounting, entrepreneurial studies, and economics/finance in the Barney School. She expects to graduate in May 2013 with 150 credits, 30 credits beyond the average bachelor’s degree requirement.
But that is just the beginning of her exceptional record of achievement. A former student member of the University’s Board of Regents, Audibert currently serves as executive vice president of the Student Government Association. Audibert is a member of the University Dance Team, served as president of the Economics/Finance Club, and helped start the "Hawks Helping Hartford" Day of Service in 2011, serving as student co-coordinator of the program this past year.
A former dance instructor who has been dancing since the age of three, Audibert will perform a dance routine for the talent portion of the Miss America competition.
This fall, Audibert juggled her already jam-packed schedule of classes and extra-curricular activities with her new duties as Miss Connecticut, including public appearances, intense preparation for the Miss America competition, and her personal platform as Miss Connecticut – the fight against childhood obesity.
