Women's Basketball Team Welcomes Back 23 Alumni

Among the women's basketball alumni who were recognized on Dec. 16 were the program’s first coach, Mary Faignant (standing to the left of President Harrison), and first captain, Roz Etra (standing beside Faignant).

On Sunday, Dec. 16, the University of Hartford women’s basketball team welcomed back 23 alumni to its annual Alumni Day.

The group was recognized at halftime of the game against Quinnipiac (in which the Hawks prevailed, 67-61) and gathered for a post-game reception. President Walter Harrison and Director of Athletics Pat Meiser welcomed the group during the halftime recognition.

A wide range of years was represented by the alumni guests, including the program’s first coach, Mary Faignant, and first captain, Roz Etra, from the early 1970s.
